What it is

Stainless Steel 321 Seamless Pipe is seamless (no welding at any stage), hot finished (hot rolled) pipe made to ASTM A312 / ASME SA312, grade TP321 (UNS S32100). Supplied by Allied Metal & Tubes, Mumbai.

Basic 18/8 (304-type) austenitic steel stabilised with titanium: not sensitive to intergranular corrosion after heating in the carbide-precipitation range of 425-850 degC
Higher strength than 304L above about 500 degC, with resistance to scaling, phase stability and resistance to later aqueous corrosion
Corrosion resistance equivalent to 304 when annealed, and better after service at 425-900 degC. It is subject to pitting and crevice corrosion in warm chlorides and to stress corrosion cracking above about 50 degC.
Excellent weldability without post-weld annealing; Ti does not transfer across the arc, so 347-type (Nb) fillers are used
